Beat the Heat with $2 Keystone Light on a Hot August Nightadmin
Meridian Speedway kicks off its Hot August Nights promotion this Saturday, August 10, with $2 Keystone Light Night. The quarter-mile asphalt oval beats the heat with gates opening at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, and racing at 7:30 p.m. The NAPA Auto Parts Big 5 Late Models run the Jeff Russell Road to Recovery 85 Saturday, alongside the Coors Super Stocks, Factory Motor Parts Mini Stocks, and Junior Stingers.
All three races of the 2019 NAPA Auto Parts Big 5 Late Model Series have boasted a different winner. Riding the momentum of his season-opening victory, Kyle Tellstrom sits atop the standings by forty markers over most recent winner Zach Telford. Bill Crow 50 victor John Newhouse may be sidelined for the rest of the season, but his black and yellow number 26 will be back in contention for the Construction Services and Repair trophy with Newhouse’s daughter Hannah, the 2016 division champion, behind the wheel.
Daytona Wurtz kept her championship hopes alive with a win in the Coors Super Stocks’ last feature. With the gap between her and defending champion Melissa Weaver under 70 points, Wurtz must make every lap count in the division’s final four race nights.
Fred Vigil has kept the Factory Motor Parts Mini Stocks standings close in the face of Travis Pavlacky’s pickup onslaught. Sitting on four straight feature wins Pavlacky holds a comfortable, but not insurmountable, 52 point advantage over Vigil. With six race weekends left in the campaign, Pavlacky can ill afford a slip up now, and Vigil must find a way to take home another Construction Services and Repair Feature Flag.
Halfway through the Junior Stinger season youngster Delaney Grace finds herself ahead of both Dylan Wardle and Jody Moen, who sit tied for second 28 markers behind. Will Grace’s consistency continue to keep her up front, or can Wardle or Moen score a victory to tighten up an already close point race?
Saturday night’s action also includes another installment of the Hungry Onion Bike Races for kids.
General admission to Saturday’s full night of racing action is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military members, $7 for kids 7-11, and as always kids 6 and under get in free. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. Beat the heat and buy your tickets online at www.meridianspeedway.com/tickets, and be sure to text ‘meridianspeed’ to 84483 to receive exclusive updates from around the quarter-mile. We’ll see you this Saturday, August 10, for $2 Keystone Light Night under the big yellow water tower at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
