Best in the West Eye Idaho 208 Titleadmin
The richest race in Meridian Speedway history goes green this Friday and Saturday, August 27 and 28, as the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 takes over the asphalt quarter-mile oval. Along with the $20,000 to win Speed Tour Super Late Model race, the Coors Pro-Late Models, Super Pro-Late Models, Mulder Engineered Junior Late Models, Boise Bath and Kitchen Company Mini Stocks, and Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets combine for the biggest weekend of stock car racing in speedway history.
Since its inception as a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race in 2015, the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 has become a crown jewel for super late model competitors from around the Northwest. This year’s entry list includes the legendary Garrett Evans, defending NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 winner Jeremy Doss, this year’s NAPA Auto Parts Treasure Valley 125 winner John Newhouse, and many more of the best full-bodied stock car racers from across the West.
This year’s NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 will be decided over two hotly-contested days. Friday, August 27, hosts single car qualifying, where the fastest four drivers lock into Saturday’s A-Feature. The rest of the field is set by Friday night’s qualifying features. Saturday sees a last chance qualifying race before the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 goes green. The 52-mile dash for $20,000 in cash will be run in two 104-lap segments with a 10 minute halfway break for crews to make adjustments.
Previous winners of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 include NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Noah Gragson, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series drivers Todd Gilliland, Derek Kraus, and Hailie Deegan, ARCA Menards Series driver Michael Self, and the previously mentioned Doss, of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. Who will add their name to this illustrious winner’s list when the checkers fall this Saturday?
The Coors Pro-Late Models, Super Pro-Late Models, and Mulder Engineered Junior Late Models anchor the weekend’s support divisions, while the Boise Bath and Kitchen Company Mini Stocks and Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets round out Friday and Saturday’s action respectively.
