Championship Drive: Bryan Warfadmin
Open-wheel competition at Meridian Speedway was at an all-time high at Meridian Speedway in 2019 as sprintcar prodigies Johnny Giesler and Bryan Warf joined an already intense Pepsi Crate Car field.
Giesler’s season got off to an inauspicious start as contact in the year’s first heat race sent the Meridian, Idaho racer’s black and red number 12 hard into the back stretch wall. Warf made the most of Giesler’s misfortune, speeding across the Caleb’s Chop Shop Victory Stripe for the feature victory. Warf would back this performance up by claiming victory in the division’s second race, even after being swept up in an early accident.
The month of June wouldn’t be as kind to Warf’s Allan Marsh Travel Centers, Dave’s Quick Lube, CF Floor Coverings machine. As Warf and his crew came to grips with mechanical gremlins Gielser was on the move, and rolled into Independence Day weekend just 48 markers out of first. Warf didn’t panic, and with the night’s feature flag in hand his point lead increased by 23.
With Giesler’s momentum broken Warf piloted his orange and white number 91 to wins in two of the division’s final three races. Though Giesler outscored Warf by six points in the season’s final three races, Warf’s lead was too much and the Meridian, Idaho hotshoe cruised to the championship by 65 points.
