Fairly Reliable Smoke Free Expansionadmin
In the mid-80’s Meridian Speedway was ahead of its time in announcing “The Red Section”. The seats denoted by the red crashwall in front of them became the ‘no drinking section’. Race fans could enjoy the racing action in a more family type atmosphere. A novel idea at the time.
Through the 90’s it also became a ‘no smoking’ seating section and Fairly Reliable Bobs became the sponsor associating his family friendly deals on cars, trucks and Corvettes with the speedway atmosphere in this section.
During the 2000’s Project Filter.org teamed up with Meridian Speedway and the section began to grow as the message and times created the demand for larger smoke free entertainment.
In 2010 the ‘Stinker Stores Family Friendly Section’, still to this day marked by the red crashwalls, is now 1/3 of the west side seating capacity and is always the first to fill up on raceday. Stinker Stores will continue to provide the family atmosphere in the red section during the 2015 racing season.
This year’s addition comes from an old friend in Fairly Reliable Bobs. The new ‘smoke free zone’ will be an additional seating section in the west side bleachers where smoking and vaping will not be permitted. It will be unmistakably marked and patrolled by speedway staff. The ‘Fairly Reliable Bob’s Smoke Free Zone’ and the Stinker Stores Family Friendly Section’ will be same in regards to it’ non-smokng policy, however adult beverage consumption will still be allowed in the new ‘Smoke Free Zone”.
Meridian Speedway loves to extend its thanks to all of our faithful fans, drivers, staff, sponsors and advertisers, without all of you coming together as a team, we would be just another short track.
