Grice, Giesler Lead Pepsi Sprinters to Hoosier $500 Green

Open-wheelers take center stage this Saturday, July 18, as Meridian Speedway hosts the Hoosier $500 presented by Idaho Central Credit Union.  The Pepsi Crate and ISRL Sprint Cars go wheel-to-wheel for a big payday, while the Coors Super Stocks, Teleperformance Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, High School Tuners, and Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets do battle for their own YMC Heating and Cooling Feature Flags.

Rob Grice and Johnny Giesler lead a rabid pack of Pepsi Crate Cars and ISRL Sprint Cars to green in Saturday night’s Hoosier $500.  With big money on the line look for the action to heat up as the laps wind down.

Competition in the Coors Super Stock ranks has literally never been closer as last Saturday Melissa Weaver edged Kyle Latham by just sixty-eight one-thousandths of a second after a four-lap slug fest in the division’s first feature.  Will Latham get the better of Weaver this weekend, or will it be youngster Daytona Wurtz who pulls her Coors Super Stock into the Caleb’s Chop Shop Winner’s Circle?

Speaking of close races, the top four Teleperformance Street Stock competitors are separated by just 21 points entering Saturday night.  Kendra Occhipinti and Chad Atnip both look to put their early season mechanical issues in the rear view, while Pat Young and Troy Evans eye the chance to sneak atop the season standings.

The battle for Mini Stock supremacy looks to be a two-car race.  Defending champion Travis Pavlacky and his blistering fast pickup truck hold the point lead entering the division’s summer stretch, but upstart Don Trafford has emerged as a worthy contender and has is ‘Purple People Eater’ on Pavlacky’s tailgate.

Can anyone in the High School Tuner division stop Dylan Wardle?  The youngster, racing both this and the Junior Stinger division, has won each and every main event this season going away, and doesn’t look to slow down now.

New father Jeff Matuska leads a ragged band of racers into Saturday night’s Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornet main event.  As their wild season nears the halfway point there’s no telling what game may be in store for them next.
