Hot August Race 4 Hunger Set for Domino’s Pizza Night

Meridian Speedway gives back this Saturday, August 24, with the Hot August Race for Hunger on Domino’s Pizza Night.  The Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets run the 125 lap headline event to support the Boise Rescue Mission, while the Pepsi Crate Cars and Idaho Sprintcar and Roadster League Sprintcars, Coors Super Stocks, and Teleperformance Street Stocks chase the Carl’s Cycle Sales Feature Flags.

After a seven-week summer break, the open-wheeled Pepsi Crate Cars and ISRL Sprintcars return to action on the quarter-mile asphalt oval.  The stretch run for a championship is underway, and it looks to be an even race between Bryan Warf and Johnny Giesler.  Who will find their way to the Caleb’s Chop Shop Winner’s Circle this Saturday?

After a wild race two weeks ago, the Coors Super Stock division finds itself in familiar territory, chasing Melissa Weaver.  Weaver’s point lead has exploded to 130 markers over second-place runner Daytona Wurtz, who has a rearview mirror full of Chuck Youngblood as these stock car racers speed into the final three events of the season.

The Teleperformance Street Stocks fire up for the stretch run to a championship Saturday.  A mid-season victory has kept young Taylor Occhipinti in the title fight, but Jesse James Lawson’s lead seems all but insurmountable as the division’s final four features kick off this Saturday.

Repaired with the finest pop rivets and duct tape in the Treasure Valley after a savage Eve of Destruction 11, the surviving Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets roll into Saturday night for the 125 lap Race for Hunger, presented by Neil Alan Fine Jewelry.  Benefitting the Boise Rescue Mission, this endurance test will push these former grocery getters and their drivers to their limits.

General admission to Saturday’s full night of racing action is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and military members, $7 for kids 7-11, and as always kids 6 and under get in free.  Gates open at 5:45 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.  Donate four cans of food at the gate and get in free!  Beat the heat and buy your tickets online at www.meridianspeedway.com/tickets, and be sure to text ‘meridianspeed’ to 84483 to receive exclusive updates from around the quarter-mile.  We’ll see you this Saturday, August 24, for the Hot August Race for Hunger on Domino’s Pizza Night under the big yellow water tower at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
