Leapin’ Limos! Wendy’s Smash-O-Rama Reaches New Heights This Saturdayadmin
Meridian Speedway crashes the night away this Saturday, May 11, as the Wendy’s Smash-O-Rama overtakes the quarter-mile oval. Alongside the Demolition Derby, Boat Races, The Beast Jet Dragster, Mr. Dizzy, and Fireworks, is a full night of race action featuring the Pepsi Crate Cars and ISRL Sprintcars, Domino’s Legends, Factory Motor Parts Mini Stocks, Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets, Firehouse Pub and Grill Bombers, and the season’s first Clarity Credit Union Penny Gold Rush.
One of the most well-known names in extreme entertainment, Mr. Dizzy brings his high-flying antics to the quarter-mile oval for yet another death-defying leap–this time in a limousine. Dizzy holds the current distance record for a limo jump at 123.5 feet, a stunt chronicled on the Discovery Channel program Wreckreation Nation. Can the wild man from Monroe, Washington make history with his Saturday night flight?
Speedway staple Jeff Atamian has his jet dragster, affectionately known as ‘The Beast,’ fueled and ready for a mid-May meltdown. With afterburners that reach a searing 3,000 degrees, whatever ends up on the wrong side of The Beast won’t be there for long.
It’s one of life’s great mysteries: to Demolition Derby, or Boat Race? Luckily, you don’t have to choose this Saturday as Wendy’s Smash-O-Rama features both types of car crushing fun. Root on your favorite driver, car, or boat as they battle to see who will be the last one standing at the end of the night!
An influx of former champions from every corner of the quarter-mile has made the Pepsi Crate Cars and ISRL Sprintcars the class to watch in 2019. Bryan Warf bested Kyle Tellstrom for the division’s first Feature Flag, but it’s anybody’s race to the Wendy’s hardware Saturday.
Caity Miller schooled the competition in the Domino’s Legends’ first outing, but looks to have her hands full with a stacked pack of competitors gunning to take the top spot for themselves.
The Factory Motor Parts Mini Stocks have been busy thus far in 2019. Their meeting for Wendy’s Smash-O-Rama is the fourth time these lightly modified machines have met in the first five weeks. So far, Fred Vigil has the division well in hand, but even the slightest slip this early in the season could turn the standings upside down.
The Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets swarm the quarter-mile for the second time in as many weeks. After a strong showing in the Sole Survivor shootout last Saturday, Neil Wassmuth holds a slim two point margin over second place runner Cody Garrett.
The easiest way to join the Meridian Speedway ranks, the Firehouse Pub and Grill Bombers round out the racing portion of the Wendy’s Smash-O-Rama schedule.
General admission to this full night of chaos is just $19 for adults, $17 for seniors 60+ and military members, and $7 for kids 7-11. As always, kids 6 and under get in free!
