Inspection Report 6-18 Event

June 18-2022

Post Race Inspections and cubic inch check Max 360cu : Street Stock Feature
Top 5 cars called to inspection area, 21-8-14-90-96
21-8-14 passed post race scaling, 90 reported to inspection area, 96 was excused due to being brought in on tow vehicle.
All cars were to remove hood for cubic inch pump test and present rear of car on jack stands for visual inspection of rear shocks and suspension components.
Upon removal of the hood of one of the cars a visual inspection revealed a jack screw adjuster in the sway bar area.
All cubic inch testing was completed on the 4 cars with no cars found to be in violation. Rear inspection was completed, no violations found at that time.
With the potential sway bar adjuster in question, the remaining 3 cars were inspected for the same. 21-14-90 had similar jack bolt adjusters. 8 car had no adjuster but the construction of the forward mounts came into question.
Rule 9.11 was reviewed.

9.9.11 Sway bars will remain stock for make and must be mounted in stock location. Connection method to lower control arms is optional. Sway bars may be adjustable. Poly bushings approved.

The rule was discussed at length with the cars/drivers in question. Two arguments were made.
Drivers, 1. Swaybars are adjustable.
Tech, 1. Agreed, swaybars ARE adjustable, at the control arm connection point, but not the frame connection point.
The definition of the word stock for the suspension components are as follows,

9.1.1 DEFINITION 9.1.1 The word stock will mean unaltered as originally factory produced and installed for make (GM to GM) (Mopar to Mopar). All cars and trucks will be stock for make unless otherwise specified in these rules.

Ruling- as that the front connection points are not “otherwise specified” then they should be stock per the definition in rule 1.
21-8-90 had legal GM sway bars, 14 had an aftermarket slapper bar.
8 had solid connection points but were not symmetrical as there was a spacer in one side.
As the cars/drivers in question did not appear to be in violation of the rule through intentional malice, the general consensus was that the line, “swaybars are adjustable” by itself led them to believe that a jack bolt was ok.
Due to the impending disqualification, at the request of the cars/drivers in question, the remaining cars in the field were inspected for this violation to see if all the competitors were interpreting the line the same way. The 96 was also brought to the inspection area on a trailer for a cubic inch check.
After the secondary inspection, the results were as follows.
96-99-58-04-61-89 all passed with stock front connection methods
11-34 did not have stock connection methods but were simple crash repairs and non-adjustable
3-17-93-67 were found to have adjustable connection points.
The disqualification for the violating cars has been confirmed as per 6-20-22
Cars 21-14-8-90-3-93-17-67 have been disqualified based on the adjusters or adjustability of the front connection points of the swaybar mount. All cars will lose accumulated points for the event of 6-18-22.
No further fines, penalties or assessments will be levied.
Official Finish order of the 6-18-22 Feature is: 96-58-9-34-61-04-11-89
Side note:
At the end of the inspection time of the 21-14-8-90 an unacceptable exchange with persons connected with a car in the secondary inspection round occurred. The fault lays with the Speedway and we apologize to the driver/owner of the 17 for the way in which the matter was handled.
