Speed Trap: Fastest Flyers Descend on Diamond Cup Friday, Saturday

Strap yourself in and hold on tight for the fastest show on asphalt as Meridian Speedway hosts the Bob FM Diamond Cup this Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.  The Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association, Super Modifieds, Northwest Tour Truck Series, West Coast Vintage Sprintcars, and Midgets pull double duty this Friday and Saturday night.  Joining this power-lineup Saturday are the Teleperformance Street Stocks and Firehouse Pub and Grill Bombers.

The Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association Winged Sprintcars  contest the Naylor Classic on Friday’s Stinker Stores Family Pass Night.  Honoring the Naylor family’s contributions to Treasure Valley open-wheeled racing, the Naylor Classic has become one of the hardest fought races on the Meridian Speedway calendar.  Saturday sees the second leg of the Bob FM Diamond Cup double-header, and the overall champion awarded a custom diamond ring from Neil Alan Fine Jewelry.

The most exotic cars on earth reunite on Meridian Speedway’s asphalt quarter-mile Friday and Saturday for the JP Memorial and Super Modified Reunion.  The lightest possible chassis wrapped around the most powerful methanol-burning engine you can find are the basic ingredients for lightning fast speeds and thrilling action at every turn.  You won’t want to miss a moment of these fire-breathing monsters as they take the track this weekend!

From precision dicing to ruthless body slamming, drivers in the rough-and-tumble Northwest Tour Truck Series use any means necessary to win.  The perfect full-bodied foil to the intricate open-wheelers, the Northwest Tour Trucks will keep you on the edge of your seat both Friday and Saturday night.

Small in stature but big on power, the Midgets return to Meridian Speedway for a two-night show.   Once a short track staple, the Midget ranks have grown steadily in recent years and have quickly become a showcase division at area tracks.

A full field of West Coast Vintage Sprintcars crowd the quarter-mile for a throwback double-header on Bob FM Diamond Cup weekend.  Spanning over a half-century of racing history, these pains-takingly restored racers, be they upright, offset, or rear-engine, are just as fast as they were in their heyday.  You won’t want to miss a minute of this blast from the past.

The Teleperformance Street Stocks duel for Saturday night supremacy as they face their second PitStopUSA.com Shootout event.  Jesse James Lawson has taken no prisoners on his way to five consecutive division wins, and the Caldwell, Idaho racer looks to add race number six to his list Saturday.

The Firehouse Pub and Grill Bombers also return to action Saturday night.  After a hard-hitting early season, Justice Coats sits alone atop the division standings.  But anything can happen in this built-in-a-day division.

General admission tickets to each night of the Bob FM Diamond Cup presented by Neil Alan Fine Jewelry are just $19 for adults, $17 for seniors and members of the armed forces, $7.50 for kids 7-11, and free for children 6 and under.  Visit your local Stinker Stores location and receive a free family pass to Friday night’s event with any ten dollar purchase while supplies last.  Purchase your advance tickets now at www.meridianspeedway.com and be sure to text ‘meridianspeed’ to 84483 to receive special updates.  We’ll see you this Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1, for the Fire and Fury of the Bob FM Diamond Cup under the big yellow water tower at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
