Meridian Speedway
Saturday Spectacular Sees Seven Divisions Scramble
After a hard-hitting opening weekend, Meridian Speedway shifts into high gear Saturday, April 11 as the Project Filter Twin 35’s powered by Meridian Lanes take to the quarter-mile asphalt oval. The NASCAR Latemodels, Boise Bath and Kitchen Company Vintage Sprintcars, Speedway Midgets, Tates Rents Stingers, and Firehouse Pub and Grill Thunderdogs make their season debuts Saturday, while the Idaho CDL Training Street Stocks and NASCAR Trucks compete for the second time in as many weeks. Plus, Saturday night sees the first Bike Race 4 Kids of the season!
Andrew Palmer leads a strong contingent of NASCAR Latemodel pilots to green for the 2026 season. Palmer dominated last season, winning 9 of the 12 features on the schedule and maintaining an unheard-of average feature finish of 1.25. Will Palmer continue his torrid pace, or will the speedster be upset by an early season upstart?
The old iron gets a new sponsor in 2026 as The Boise Bath and Kitchen Company has jumped on board to support the Vintage Sprintcars. Everything in this division is a throwback to yesteryear, from the cars themselves to the drivers and even the rule book, which consists of a handshake agreement to run cars considered ‘vintage’ on a, relative to their fire-breathing powerplants, skinny right rear tire. Don’t miss a lap as these old cars and drivers pull off new tricks as they battle for the night’s Crown Rental and Services trophies.
The Speedway Midgets go wheel-to-wheel in the Concrete Jungle for the first time this season Saturday night. Young gun Brady Ransom outlasted the field to take home the division title last year, but a hungry group of racers are ready to take the top spot for themselves in this thrilling division.
The future of Meridian Speedway takes center stage Saturday as the Tates Rents Stingers roll to the green flag. Don’t miss your opportunity to watch these eleven to fourteen-year-old racers develop the skills that will make them household names in the years to come.
Firehouse Pub and Grill Thunderdogs may be cars we race, not race cars, but the action they provide is second to none. Strap in for a wild ride every time these gut-and-go machines rumble onto the quarter-mile.
Jake Altman drew first blood in the Idaho CDL Training Street Stocks last Saturday night as he charged to the season-opening feature win. But Altman enters Project Filter Twin 35’s night with a mirror full of defending division champ Andrew Palmer and points runner-up Scott Groom.
John Newhouse swept both NASCAR Truck feature races in the Meridian Speedway season opener, and looks to go four-for-four this Saturday night. But all eyes will be on Tanner Wong, the youngster who endured a wicked crash that saw his truck torn in half last weekend. Can Wong get a backup machine together in time to rejoin the division? Find out this Saturday night.
Finally, kids, bring your bike and a helmet to take your turn around the track with the Bike Race 4 Kids. Meet announcer Brent Arte at the turn four gate right after qualifying and get ready to set your own record lap time.
General admission to the Project Filter Twin 35’s powered by Meridian Lanes is just $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and military members, $9 for kids 7-11, and free for kids 6 and under. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. Saturday with the first green flag waved at 6:30 p.m. Log on to www.meridianspeedway.com and save $2 on advance tickets (through Friday) and keep up to speed with all the latest news and notes from around the quarter-mile. Can’t make it out to the Concrete Jungle? Catch all the action with live, flag-to-flag coverage streamed at SpeedCast.tv. We’ll see you under the big, yellow water tower Saturday, April 11, for the Project Filter Twin 35’s powered by Meridian Lanes at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
